In Australia, workers involved in construction work must complete general construction induction training (commonly known as the “White Card”) before commencing work on a construction site.

This Victorian course reflects the state’s occupational health and safety legislation and WorkSafe Victoria requirements. Face-to-face delivery gives students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the practical safety skills expected on Victorian construction sites.

The unit provides the knowledge and skills required to work safely and prevent injury or harm to themselves and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk controls, responding to potential incidents and emergencies, and correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE).

This training does not replace site-specific or task-specific instruction, training or supervision. Workers are expected to complete a site-specific induction before commencing construction work on a job site.
